SUN on ICE

The fun extravagasms during my winter break have been a hard adjustment for me to digest like usual. The sudden and temporary transition from the break of hard work has always been a little emotionally intense.

Instantly after my last math final I went to Big Bend with a friend of mine named Mark which was amazing thing to do with character like him who has been constantly inspiring me to appreciate more of the beauty that's apart of the scenery around us. There were no complaints about the harsh windy nights with the lack of warmth in our hands and sometimes bodies especially since the appreciation for the chance to be away from our routine of the city was priceless. In the mountains where we settled, we made it a point to hike every trail and we fell in love with a few trails that were re-used to overlook the prime views of the most impressive cliffs too see the birth and death of the of the days. During the days I rarely forgot to appreciate the grand scenery of the steep hills of the red earthed dessert, next to the vegetation growing around richly angled boulders like moss on the ruins of the mountainous slopes and there were also dried rivers of water molded pebbles and stones that were painted with such variety of color as if it were hiding the most premium crystals inside. The focus I put into recognizing the
texture and aesthetics of the park made it one of the most spiritual hiking trips I ever took.


It was part of an encouraging new habit of mine I been acquiring this semester of setting out time every week to silently watch some sunsets and serenity of the local turtle ponds and rivers, something I have done before but never made a reliable routine of. I was surprised that I was surprised when I was forgetting before I started up again that these simplest activities definitely help comfort me with the ability to vent the daily work life.
